Littleton Dance Academy performs its own annual production of the holiday classic The Nutcracker at the Theatre at Colorado Heights University. Performing in The Nutcracker is often a dance student's dream and we feel it is a wonderful performing opportunity for our students. We will be holding auditions on Saturday, September 26th from 2:00 to 3:15 p.m. for LDA students ages 5 to 12. There will be a meeting for all parents and students immediately following the audition at 3:15 p.m. Returning LDA students must have taken ballet classes over the summer to be eligible. (This means a student must be in class ten of the twelve weeks). There will be a Nutcracker Production Fee of $75 for all Ensemble and Company dancers and a production fee of $60 for all other students which will be due by October 15th. All productions fees are nonrefundable and nontransferable. Rehearsals for our younger students will be on Saturday afternoons (beginning October 2nd) except for a few evenings during the week of November 30th. Performances will be on December 4th and 5th with a full dress rehearsal in the theatre on Friday, December 3rd. It is extremely important for students to attend all rehearsals for which they are scheduled; therefore only two absences will be allowed. It is very difficult for fellow dancers to work on a piece without everyone present since there is so much interaction between dancers. We take our performances very seriously and ask that you honor your commitment if you sign a performance contract.
